I have a question I just bought a Fender Strat. that comes with Fender Standard Tension bullet St3250L strings. When it comes down to changing the strings what should I replace with?

what ever you want to. string brand is entirely personal, so try a few different ones. i do recommend skipping the cheap brands as they are a false economy, and also skipping the new ernie ball coated slinkies as they have a nasty sticky coating. the regular ones are awesome tho.

you might need to do a setup if you change guage. if you check the specs on your guitar in the products section of this site it will tell you the guage.

Where does it tell you what gauge. the (0.009-0.042). Or what it is a Standard Stratocaster Left-handed guitar that came with the value pack of amp, bag, and tuner.

I personally swear by Ernie Ball slinkys, 9's. D'addario wear out too quick and i cant get on with fender bullets.

I have completely different findings than Mustand Steevo,I have been using D'Addarios exclusively on all my guitars for over 25 yrs and I find that (at least the 8-38s and 10-46s)hold their tuning and newness much longer than most if you wipe them down after every use.I have 3 Strats and these strings can put up with extreme whammy use and still stay in tune.

Same here, that's why I use D'Addarios too. I never have any tuning problems and they sound great for a long time. IMHO Bullets are horrible. I haven't used Fender strings since the late 70's.

My main string choice is Fender 150's. 10's. I absolutely hate the sound of the 250's and have never understood two things: their immense popularity and Fender using them as OEM. If I can't find 150's I'll buy Gibson Vintage. Where I live there is no price difference between string brands so name brands are no more money. Tried D'addarios, Balls and GHS and was unimpressed. Markleys seem to be OK. Rotosound pure nickels have been Ok. I sometimes run Fender 350s on my Teles. On a Strat they seem weird but on a Tele they have a different spank and bite to them for an interesting change up.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I like the ernie ball hybrid slinky #2222 (orange pack) gauge 9,11,16,26,36,46. nickel wound. easy bending, last long, nice tone and made in U.S.A. Use on my tele and strat. best to try out various, but good brands, till you find what feels and sounds good to you.
