Anybody know? I was browsing th Fender website since they've redone it. Unless they have mis-located it, it looks like they have terminated the twelve-string Stratocaster XII. I know it was listed as a Special Edition model so its availability was limited..... so, is it offically gone?

I tried one, and really liked it, but at the time I wasn't looking for an electric 12, but I would like o have one in my arsenal one day.

Although I've never played one it would be a pity to drop it unless they are considering bringing the original Fender XII like Jimi Page used on the original recording of Stairway to Heaven back into the fold. The old XII had such an inimitatable sound that it was immediately distinguishabble from a Ric or Gibson.Sixpence None The Richer used one on their hit Kiss Me and although I didn't know for sure until I saw the video I figured it had to be an old Fender XII they used.I imagine the Strat XII had a very similar tone I certainly would like to get one as the old ones are getting pricey.

I missed out on these also.

It will no doubt reappear in a couple of years when there are enough folks who want one.

+1

It's been in and out of the Fender catalog several times since its introduction in the mid/late '80s. I just hope there will be additional color options the next time it's issued as a "NEW NEW NEW!" product. Mine's in Lake Placid Blue but I surely would've preferred Oly White or Cherry Sunburst.
