Which one of the two do you prefer and why?
I was just thinking...the 2 point trem is more modern (and therefore should be better), but with only 2 screws holding it in place a concern about it's stability pops up. And if you're looking for more precision, wouldn't the vintage trem be better because it wouldn't be as touch sensitive due to it having more screws (and therefore better stability/ fine tuning?).

Any views would be appreciated.

I agree that the vintage trem should be better. I have an Epiphone strat from around the 80's, and the two-point trem on it has turned into a floating bridge. It's not very much fun to work with...

2 point trems works smoother. vintage trems look way better.

you can modify a vintage trem to work like a 2 point, but you can't modify a 2 point to look like a vintage.

and that is why vintage is better.

Yep, vintage is better. I said it once and I'll say it again: "You can't improve on perfection?"

Of course, that's my opinion.

I have both, the 2-point works better but the vintage bridge is far superior for palm muting.

Vintage all the way! It's worked great for 50 + years, why change it now?

Personally I thought 2 point would get most the votes!....I don't really have an opinion, so I didn't vote.....I like 'em both.

my MIM standard Strat would constantly go out of tune every time I used the whammy before I did my own setup. I adjusted my 6 point as suggested in Fender's setup guide (raise all the screws at the front of the bridge plate 1/16th of an inch, then tighten the 2 outside screws back down flush)... works great, nice light feel, and I can divebomb all day long and she stays in tune.

I guess that makes it behave more like a 2-point trem.

right, and the 4 raised inside screws help to stabalize(sp?) the bridge, while you're really just pivoting on the outside 2... just like a 2 point, with the vintage look. i voted for vintage.

Vintage is beautiful. The two-point isn't the same. That's one reason I got a Highway One. I hear the two point is better for some radical stuff I don't do. All I did to my vintage was put in 5 springs and screw around with the height of the float on the bridge. I've tried a few heights on the float and I prefer a little less than the factory 1/8" because low is more in synch with my (factory) truss rod which has a nice low action. The trem is totally stable for holding notes perfectly, and also works excellent for vibrato when my left hand is busy and the trem is better, like while playing BB's "You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now."

I like the look of the vintage tremolo.
Have mine blocked, don't use it.

What do you have to do to your truss rod when adding springs/ adjusting height?......Increase resistance?
