Nice guitar Vintage Blonde. Dont bemoan the lack of bone. It does nothing for the sound of fretted notes and only makes a minimal difference on open notes.

Trust me you wouldnt want to carve it all day the stuff stinks. This compensated one piece bone nut took me three and a half days to design and carve. A experience I'll never forget.

That's one beauty of a guitar Vintage Blonde and the body appeaars to be one piece,if not they did one heck of a job matching the grain.

thnx miami, niki and gut,
It´s 2 pieces of ash bonded 2gether (butterfly cut), I had the option of a one piece body, but It didn´t have the grain as pretty as the 2 piece.
Last wednesday while gigging in a club I could see people staring at my strat, It draws attention (and respect too), even the owner of the club came by to check her out.
The sound of her is heavenly and takes distortion real well.
4 your viewing pleasure 1 last pic, it´s a nice foto:

The volume knob is black lettering and the two tones are gold? :?: I see the joint in the two pieces is dead center of the body. Nice symmetrical appearance! 8)

As for posting a picture. How does one do that I wonder?

Great pics of the Vintage Blonde. Almost good enough to take out on a date especially as I am a good vintage........

VT Black Strat: Yep good observation!, as soon as i find the volume in gold letters will change it.
As 4 posting pictures Billy it´s real simple, click on the "image button" (Img) right up here in da right, the open on another browser of the picture you want to dispaly, look 4 the images URL, copy it, thern paste in here, thren clck on image again, close it.

Then continuing the question about Nuts, I have tried plastic, ebony, brass and bone, i do think it changes the timbre a bit, on my strat, with ebony sounded a bit more "opaque" not so bright, kind of punchier, then when i switched 2 bone it sounds a bit more trebly. My ears do hear the di fferences, and my fingers feel it 2.

Vintage Blonde is gettirng ready for a gig presentation feb 6th yahoo!!!

Thanks vintage for the info for pic posting.
I have just had my USA Standard Strat (sunburst) now 13 yrs old returned from the guitar tech he has fitted a graphtec nut and string trees. He also had to regrind the slots in the the trem base & sort the bolts as they had worn with use, a common problem he tells me. It's playing well again now. It would not stay in tune. (Just like its owner Im afraid).
Whilst it was away I got the deluxe to replace it.
I like the grain of the ash body on your axe. Did you think about putting locking tuners on it?

I can understand you hearing a difference on open strings. Nut material just does not affect fretted notes. You've shortened the speak length of the string by fretting it. If you fret the 7th fret say and pluck the string, you cant feel the string vibrate at say the 3rd fret can you. By fretting you've effectively cut the string short so the nut doesnt come into play.

Locking Tuners?I don´t think so, I´ll tell u why, the neck of my axe is from an american plus deluxe from 95, that neck came with a steel nut and no string trees, since at the moment we coulndn´t find a steel nut, we opted 4 the bone nut, if it a strat has bone nut, it´s gotta work as a regular strat, so we installed 2 string trees.
And it really, doesn´t go out of tune at all.

Hey Billy both axes pretty, but the deluxe is something else!!, but the dots on the fretboard r strange, some are black, some missing, is it the pic?

Staying in tune of course is all that matters. I have locking tuners now on a couple of guitars. Other than any tuning issues you are probably aware that string changing is easier but that is a small issue. My Sunburst stayed in tune very well over the first 13 yrs before I had any issues. I will see now how well it works out before anymore mods.
The deluxe has abalone / mother of pearl markers so they dont photograph to well though they look good on the axe. At first when looking at the strings I was thinking the strings were marked untill I realised it was the reflection from the markers on them.
