Hello and thanks for the cool forum.

I purchased a 60th anniversary Strat and it says, "made in Mexico".

I was told that it may have been made in the U.S. and assembled in Mexico., using the exact pick-up design on the vintage 60's guitars.

I was also told that it was a newer version of the old origional Squire Strat.
It plays well and sounds pretty good, apart from the 60 cycle hum.

I like the guitar, Can anyone help me figure out what I have?

Other than a small round brass looking medallion on the head-stock I don't know how to classify this model, what kind of wood Fender used what type pick-ups etc..

I don't believe that applies to my guitar since it is sunburst w/rosewood vintage style neck and the pick-ups seem to be standard vintage style ceramics .

Any other suggestions?

I'd suggest forgetting everything you were told about the guitar. Most of the information you've given about the instrument is in conflict, so i think maybe what you were told wasn't exactly right.

From your description, it sounds most like an MIM 60's Classic, although it has alnico pickups.

Does anyone know if these shipped with 60th Anniversary badges in '06?

Does it have staggered pole pieces on the pups ?

If it sounds good, just play it. If you don't like something, change it. It does sound like it may have already been modified a bit.

Jim do you mean that the MIM 60th Anniversary has Alnico pick-ups or that you think mine has Alnico pick-ups? Mine doesn't, there are ceramics in there.

...and to Miami Mike yes, the pole pieces are staggered.

By the way the guitar was purchased in '06 without a badge however, it developed shop damage as I put a deposit on it during the Christmas rush and when I complained the day I came in to take posession of it the store manager helped to correct the problem and swiftley ordered another one just like it from Fender which turned up 2 or 3 weeks later, with a badge (in Jan. '07). The shop did have repairs made to my guitar but when i played the second one low and behold, it was a love thing. The shop did fix the first guitar and allowed me to choose which one I prefered.

...hey guys there is some last details regarding this guitar that I'm sorry to have left out.

It was also outfitted with a mint green pick-guard and faded looking knobs and tips, clay dots on the neck and vintage tremelo, also the neck has a darker tint to.

I don't know all the features and when I think I do there is always something missing or a feature that is more than expected from the model that I'm tring to zero in on.

Any Fender employees out there that might have the answer.

I hope there is someone still with me on this. :?
