My 50th AmSe. Strat, completely blew me away with the tone from that thing!

I ended up selling every other Strat I had at the time, and sold some I picked up afterwards.

Until '07,when I bought a '54 Thinskin,...

With these two in the house,..I haven't really looked for another Stratocaster since.

Texasguitarslinger,Coranado IIs have been on my G.A.S. list since they appeared in the circa 67 catalogue,I just love the Wildwood ones. The current value of Coronado IIs is $1300-1800 the top price going for a non faded Wildwood. If the guitar is in good shape and cheaper than that it would certainly be worth picking up because some day someone is going to discover what great guitars they are and the price will climb.

Yeah, the one I'm saving for is one the Wildwood ones. They also have a red one, a '67 I think, but I just really like the other one best. It's not in the best condition, it's definately been played and it's missing a knob, but it wouldn't take a whole lot of fixing up to be a nice playing guitar. I would replace the tuners, just because I'd want to save the old ones while they're still in working condition. And considering you could pick up a Coronado II for about $500 ten years ago, I really want to buy one before they're completely out of my reach.

A friend of mine that owned a guitar shop in my town for over 30 years has a 1980 mij JV series 57ri sunburst that a friend of his bought for him in Japan brand new in 1980. That strat is by far the best playing, feeling, and sounding strat I have ever played. He told me that out of all the strats he had seen go through his store (including pre CBS strats) none of them felt better than that JV series. He always liked to talk up those mij strats and he sold me on them. Out of my strats my favorite would probably be my 93 mij foto flame the neck feels like it was made for me and the stock pups are very nice (think classic bell tone). But my 99 mia and my 02 60s mim come in a close 2nd from my collection.

I once owned a blueburst strat plus. I bought it around '89 or '90. It had a rosewood fretboard, red, silver, and blue lace sensor pups. I guess some would call the finish trans blueburst but it was just the coolest color I've ever seen on a guitar. The wood that could be seen through the finish had some of the coolest grain. The bridge was the 2-point fulcrum type with the pop-in arm. It also had the Hip-shot tremsetter. Some purists may not appreciate a guitar like this but my experience with that "magic wand" was nothing less than ethereal. If you've ever had this kind of thing happen to you, you know it's just a feel thing.
Anyway, yeah!, I think I can relate.

My guitar tutor owns an 80's MIJ with the System one trem and its gorgeous to play... had a couple of mods done for his taste but nothing drastic.
best guitar ever!

My 89 Clapton Blackie is the best playing and most versatile guitar I own. I would sell every other guitar I own before I let that one go - and I'd have to be real hungry even then!

Oh, I think I'm gonna like it here (maybe too much!). 8)

Favorite for me was a 1960 beauty (all original) for sale in a shop North of Detroit back in about 1993 or so. 2 tone 'burst (faded from 3 I think) with a nice thick slab board. Couldn't afford it, passed it up.

Of those I've owned, a few years later I managed to buy a 1962 (genuine, real deal honest to gosh legend!). It was all original too. Sold it off when I went broke, along with the other three "modern" Strats I had acquired (sad times). I'm back now, I've got a great '62 reissue I just picked up, and am waiting for delivery of a very nice looking used American Standard (coming tomorrow) :P .

Everyone is going to think I'm crazy, but the best I played was a 1995 Fender Korean Squire. It was a great guitar to me... I sold it when I was shipped to Korea (go figure) thinking I couldn't take it with me.... But that guitar was really nice. I probably wouldn't think that way today if I still had the guitar, but at the time, I sure thought so. It lead me to purchase another Korean strat in Korea (which turned out to be a complete fake), and purchase the strat I have today....

Best Guitar I've played recently? My Epiphone Les Paul.... I think its all about familiarity with it...

Currently, I am into my 2007 Customshop Team Built Olympic White Jeff Beck Strat. It is a low serial numbered weapon that just smokes!
I think this is my favorite Strat I have ever played.
It is just starting to break in now. I loved this thing so much, I ordered 2 Todd Krause Masterbuild Beck Strats through the Music Gallery in Chicago...but there is a mod I am experimenting with...I'm adding the Clapton 25db boost...w/ the stock Hot Noiseless pickups...
My first love is a 77'maple neck hardtail modded strat that I have owned since 93'. Got it as a swap while on tour for my then new 92' Strat Plus. We both think we got the upper hand..the way things should be!
Have a first year made in Japan Squire w/ a JB dropped in the bridge, Hot Noiseless in the neck, Middle, 25 db boost to be added soon!
Have another 90 Strat Plus w/ Hot Noiseless and the 25db boost to be added soon, and a sweet Eric Clapton Team Built Custom Shop Olympic White that I am parting with- can no longer use a soft V...

In 1977 I played, then bought the only Strat that I had ever played. It was beat up and old. White with a maple fretboard. Had the greatest sound I ever had out of a Strat. I ended up selling it to return to college. Being that this was the only Strat I had ever played I thought they all were the same. Wrong. On my third Strat now and though I still love um nothing sounded for me like that old one.
