Years ago i had an experience trying out a Strat in a music store. It was a Custom Shop Relic '57 in White Blonde - out of my reach financially at the time. And though i today own and play Strats that keeps me satisfied , this tryout somehow stayed with me over the years. It was just so very special and almost magical for the 20 minutes or so that i lasted... :P

Could be great to hear your story of what Stratocaster left/leaves the biggest impact on you......... Could be one you own or one you played in the past. What was/is it about it that (at least at the time:)) made you think; this is just the damn best Strat i EVER played ........................ ? :P

The best I have ever played was an early 90's MIM Fender Stratocaster Squier Series Floyd Rose in black that I once owned.. my first fender love.

The next was a 89 Strat Plus in Torino Red a friend of a friend offered me to play... absolutely magical at the time. I vowed as a kid from that moment on, that I will one day have a strat plus of my own :)

The Strat Plus is a cool guitar i have to say! Bet that Carribean Mist is special :) The Plus was also developed into the 'Jeff Beck Signature' in the early 90s , and i have some of the features from the Plus in my '09 JB Strat :P Low-Noise rules!!

The price of an"old" Strat is dependant on several things such as:year condition, colour, hardtail or vibrato etc.a mint sunburst 60 Strat could be worth up to $27000,a 59 Mary Kaye with gold hardware and a slab neck could fetch up to $72,000.A mint 54 Strat will set you back up to $60,000.
a 64 sunburst with spaghetti logo $21,000 a 64 in a rare colour up to $45,000.A 70 sunburst 8-9,000,a 70rare colour $12-18,000.the most valuable 80 Strat is the Antigua at $2,500.I hope that answers some questions for you.

My current strat is the best strat I have ever laid my hands on: '60 Custom Shop Closet Classic in Daphne Blue. Amazing guitar and most solidly-built guitar that I have ever owned.

The best "mojo" I have ever felt in an strat is my buddy's original '64 that he was finally fortunate enough to acquire last year. It just sounds incredible; has this ring that is truly unique that no relic-job can touch. It's just an amazing instrument and piece of history. Very cool guitar. <wish I was rich!>

My early 90's MIA 1962 reissue Fender Stratocaster--fiesta red finish; modifications--added Pete Biltoft Vintage Vibe SP90 pickups; blocked the tremolo; changed the pickguard to aged white mother of toilet seat; added a push/pull tone pot to turn on the bridge pickup no matter what position the selector switch is in.

The best non-Fender Strat-style guitar I ever owned was a G&L Nighthawk; that was just about the perfect guitar...lost it in the Great Guitar and Amplifier Mortgage Payment Massacre of 1996.

i had just purchased my american std strat, i tested the 62 hot rod in olympic white.
at the time, i felt the neck too large.
you know what the kcker was?
onsale for 1300.
well it might as well have been 10,000.
but i could have lay awayed it.

it had a fantastic tone.

With both of my Strats it was love at first sight, and with my MIM Fender I had my hand on the neck for literally two seconds and it already felt right. :D

I once played a Les Paul Classic at guitar center that just felt perfectly right. Which is rare, since most Les Pauls don't feel as good as a Strat to me. It was $2000, $1900 more than I had at the time. It sold in less than a week after I played it. :( Right now I have my sights set on a 1968 Fender Coronado II also at guitar center. I feels great, it sounds great, it looks great, and it's currently $700 more than I can afford. But it's been there for six months and hasn't sold yet, and it survived the holiday buying frenzy so I might still have a chance at it.

The best strat I ever played is still my '92 SRV, even the Custom Shop strats I've played don't stand a chance against it. It's nice and light (7.6 lbs), great neck profile, pickups sound fantastic and plays like butta!
