As some of you may of heard from me a while back, i was putting some ibanez infinitys in an old strat.

I got the wiring down. i just have a little capacitor problem...
Im thinking i should be using .022mfd caps.

If anyone disagrees let me know.

I'm going to order em from allparts.
are these good?

Hi there!!! Well. I'd like to know if a capacitor decreases the high frequencies when the tone knob is on the 10 position (all way up).

The case is, I have a Strat with .047uf, and I'm thinking to replace it for a .022uf incase it's true!!!

Thank you!!!

Capacitor(s) do nothing if the tone knob is a 10.

When you turn the tone knob, the TONE gets darker. How dark (bass), and how fast this happens depends on the value of the capacitor in the circuit, as the cap is what "bleeds" (or passes) the highs in the signal to ground.

The higher the value of the cap, the darker/faster your tone will get as you turn the tone control.

So .047 would make it "muddyer"/faster than a .022 would.............WHEN YOU TURN THE TONE CONTROL DOWNWARDS.

.022 is a good number if the pickups aren't too bright to begin with.

Some of the "shrill" vintage pickups ( like 57/62's for example) need a .1µF !

The value depends on the pickups and what the user wants to happen tone wise.

But again, .022 µF is a good all around popular value that works well with most and is what is in most new Strats and Tele's as well !

Heck just go get 'em at Radio Shack.

The H-1 I have has a .1uf capacitor. They seem to have kind of a shrill effect. Hate to hear it with a lower capacitor.
