What do you consider inexpensive? To me any under 1000 dollars is inexpensive and theres alot of very good fenders in that range.

First, change your output jack to a Switchcraft brand one. Next, buy a superior, graphic EQ. The EQ will allow for many, many different tonalities out of your guitar as set by you; you can even boost volume too. The best part is, an EQ is not limited to just one guitar.

Look at your five way switch where the middle tone control lug is there will be a empty lug next to it. ( between Mid Tone and the Volume pot lug) solder a wire between the Mid Tone lug and the empty one. Now have bridge, middle tone control.

What does changing your output jack do to change your sound and what is a graphic EQ?

You can do this for the price of 4" of wire.

Dont bother buying a blender pot, just use the existing tone control. Basicaly its a stand alone volume control for the neck pickup. So that pickup is always on, but dialed in or out with the blender pot. It will operate neck pickup volume in reverse. So when the dial is on 10 no neck pickup sound. When its on 0 full volume from the neck pickup.

It gives you neck and bridge together pickup options with the switch on the bridge only setting. Also all three pickups on when you select bridge and mid and dial the neck pickup in via the blender pot. You also get to choose the amount of volume for the neck pickup, so you can dial in as much as you want. The middle tone control turns into a master tone control for all 3 pickups.

Personaly I think its the best mod you can make to a strat bar non.

You would spend >$1000 to mod your guitar and call that inexpensive?

I dont believe it for a second. I dont think anyone in their right mind would spend that on a mod alone. OP was wanting something inexpensive, obviously because he doesnt have a lot to spend, or is working with something that may not be worth spending too much on. I dont think he wanted to know how much you think is inexpensive/expensive- that may be a little patronising to the OP

I changed one of my pickups from a Alnico 3 SC to a Dimarzio SD humbucker. That and a Dimarzio 500K volume knob was around $100. This type of change is a good way to your guitar's sound and won't break the bank.

Changing the output jack to a Switchcraft one does absolutely nothing for your sound. Rather, you are changing out an OEM substandard part which mark my words, will crap out on you, with one that will last forever.

A graphic EQ is a device that comes in pedal, board and rack models which have several sliding pots which upon command, can enhance, reduce or remove various frequencies per your requirements. In other words, it's a tone shaper. See link:

I recommend a eq pedal as a great way to get different sounds out of your guitar. Luckily their not all that expensive.

You can buy this
Image

For anywhere from £120-£180.

Or on the otherhand you can buy the superb value

Image

For around £40.

I own both and bells and whistles aside they both do pretty much the same thing when used between a guitar and a amp.

Well worth buying a cheapie and having a play around with it.

Those Dano pedals are usually a pretty sweet value. good performance from budget pedals.

Blerties that is why I corrected myself. I didn,t read the post right and thought he was talking about inexpensive guitars. I would agree 1000.00 would not be an inexpensive

lite ash stratocaster,

I own the Boss Eq 7. Great little pedal for around $100 USD. It really cleans up the guitar great.
