Sounds like the usual self-righteous tripe used as justification for hijacking an entire forum.

And yes, I understand sarcasm. If the rules say:
"This forum is for shootin' the breeze about Stratocaster guitars."
Then it's obvious that this must be the place where we go to discuss natural disasters! That was sarcasm.

It's weird how the people with the biggest hearts and the most compassion are so quick to launch personal attacks against anyone who disagrees with them.
And yes, my point is that nothing but Stratocasters should be dicussed here. Ever. That's the simple point of a Stratocaster Forum the eludes you. The forum hasn't "evolved" as you suggest. That's like saying the ocean has "evolved" because we filled it with industrial waste. Who put you in charge of re-defining this site when it has already been defined as:
"This forum is for shootin' the breeze about Stratocaster guitars."

You cry like I'm limiting your freedom of speech because I don't want anything discussed but Stratocasters. "Ever". It's apparent that under your set of rules, anything can be discussed here. OOPS...except suggesting the posts limit themselves to the topic: STRATOCASTERS.

It's a great concept to have a place on the web where Strats can be discussed. For those that want to talk Haiti, politics, Barbie Dolls, or sex, or sex with Barbie dolls, there are places devoted to that. You've presented an arguement that suggests I want to limit your freedom of speech by making you talk about Stratocasters exclusively when you're limiting my freedom to enjoy a site that stays on topic.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for coming to the rescue....I really did not want to "get into it" with this guy. As I have been on this forum for a few years it seems that we are really a community where everyone actually cares about each other..in a stratty kind of way, is stratty a word  . The devastation is so much it is really on a biblical proportion scale and I just wanted to reach out to my fellow bretheren. I am glad to see my friends blertles, twelvebar, nikkininja and company came to the rescue. I am really glad to see the humanity in this forum. It is a breath of fresh air. Thanks Gents....

Well it seems quite obvious that this is not the forum for you, doesnt it. As previously stated the moderators have no problem with most 'off topic' threads. Perhaps you should report this violation to one of them.

This site doesnt stay on topic, it never has. You've picked the wrong place to try and enforce your will.

i hope the fact that Haiti isn't the most organised country in the world doesn't hamper the aid effort too much. if everyone gave up one beer, made that set of guitar strings last a bit longer, and donated the money to the red cross, of medcines sans frontiers, etc. then that would make a big difference.

Credit must go to the aid workers out there, it's easy to sit in your nice dry warm home and and say, `'it's really terrible.' s credit to the aid workers/serach teams/ soldiers etc. who are out there working thier arses off to try and help people who have lost everything

If you remember correctly, you were the one who presented the argument in your initial post: "It's a Strat forum. About strats. C'mon." seem familiar?

as per the fornication with barbie dolls, well my friend- Im going to leave that open to question. Whatever floats your boat, I dont judge people. I dont however think there is a forum for that. Like I said before and I will say it again- for someone like yourself who is capable if of intelligent though and debate- you have really me there. Things like that maybe you should really keep to yourself.

Wow....im sorry this took such a turn.....and im scared that a post like this could upset someone.

I have talked to Trauma in the pass about many things, my family, his family, Music, The Beatles, Strats, Eric Clapton and so on.....I know him as well as anyone could know a person online. I also know he would of never started this post if he thought for one minute someone might not like it.

Like (now I have to put) 99.99% of the people here, from all over the world. We care about people (even if they only played, dare i say Gibsons).

I look at everyone here more like family. We might not agree on everything. But in the end we can talk to eachother about anything (unless one of you dated my wife.....keep that to yourself).

I stand with ya Trauma, good for you.

Jimmie

I'm beginning to find that this is becoming an 'everyone knows someone who knows someone' kind of thing. One of my office staff and her parents are unaccounted for. There were some people on my flight to Florida talking about someone they knew. Friends of mine in Florida believe someone close to them was killed. There are students from a local university down here who are missing...and yet, had this been a submarine quake, we might be talking about a disaster of epic proportions involving the entire Caribbean, and possibly parts of Central America, Mexico and Southern Florida.

Some busnesses in our area,Costco for one, have taken up the cause to help Haitian disaster victims and give customers the option of making a donation to be added on their bill at the checkout. It's good to see big business taking inititive to help.I guess their probably people who think checkouts should be used for purchases only like a Strat forum should be exclusively about Strats, all I have to say about that is Tele Tele Tele Tele Tele Tele Tele Tele Tele Tele etc.

You know, if you REALLY want this thread to involve Strats...

I'm sure there were Strat players and Stratocasters damaged by this disaster.
