For all you electronic guys. If I wanted to put a Clapton boost in a strat, but didn't want to route for the battery, or hide a 9v battery somewhere. Could I use 3 3v litium coin type batteries instead? It would be easier to find a place for it, would just need to change the connection end I would think.

And does anyone know if there's any drawbacks to doing that? Like it won't last as long or anything like that?

Thanks.

You will find if using single cells they will flatten quick and end up costing more int he long run. Have you got a rechargeable pack that has the 3 cells wired together? That sounds better.

I'd go with whatever battery is recommended and if your replacing batteries often use rechargeables instead. You should be able to squeeze a 9v in somewhere anyway.

Its not hard to find somewhere to put the battery. I just put it between 2 of the trem springs.

I tried putting it alongside the pickup selector as per this guys instructions (that work great for everything else)

Alas I couldnt get it to work for me in that possition, though as I said the rest of the guys instructions worked a treat. I put the battery in the trem cavity and used that for ages.

One thing I did notice. You need to wrap that circuitboard really well. Put plenty of padding around it too. It can generate a fair bit of noise when its in the control cavity. I ended up routing the body for the boost circuitboard.
