Nice lookin axe. Can you go play it? I would think an American strat with a little specialness would be fairly priced around that number. IF you are good with setup, or have a reputable tech in your area, I say go for it!

Fender had three models that I remember for the 50th anny. One was a CS model, another was a Deluxe and the Am Series that had a MSRP of about $1500 back in '04.

If it's authentic and has the original neckplate, it seems like a fair price to me, but I really like to play a guitar before buying. YMMV?

Me too. I'm just seeing if it is one of those deals to jump at, or wait for something better to come along.

My father in-law has the 50th Am-Dlx, and it is a really nice guitar. It doesn't wow me, I think I'll wait.
