I have found out I might have a 65-67 Fender, according to the neck number. It looks like it was reverbished, but I have had since the early 80's. I looks like a strato, but has a single pickup. Memory tells me it was sold as a mustang? Have emailed consumer relations with ser. number, twice, no response. Any help? Havn't played since bought it. Want to trade for accustic, but need to know what I have. Also have tube, Vibro Champ amp. no dates. But EIA 606-650 on back. bought as pair. Where can I find out what I have?

Probably a Musicmaster or a Bronco. They were single pup student model guitars. Mustang's had two pickups.

Reverbished. I love it.

That would be in a reverbishing tank, right?

you were the only one to catch that..so much for spellchecker in the brain. I have found out, from using all the suggestions, it is probably a musicmaster. 64, when it was redone, the fender stencil on the front neck was replaced, but not the model. The Vibro Champ is a 67-72 silver face. I had no idea I could find out so much information from a forum like this. I really appreciate all the assistance.

If it has a Mustang body and a single neck pickup it's a Musicmaster, with a bridge pickup it would be a Bronco. They were great little guitars and played really nice,if I were you I'd hold on to it.

Thanks for a response. If the pickup is near the neck that would make it a musicmaster, right? I am guessing the cracks in the top of the guitar are from age? But the back is in really good shape, no cracks. The cracks in the top almost look like they were made that way.

The cracks in the top are most likely checking caused by being subjected to sudden temperature changes such as bringing a cold guitar into a warm house and taking it out of the case before it has a chance to heat up gradually to room temperature. This won't impact the sound or playability,it just ads to the character.A word of advice...Don't try to strip or alter the guitar in any way other than adjust the intonation or bridge height or change the strings.Any alterations to a guitar can ruin it's value.

I'm looking forward to the pictures.

As a Mustang owner I like the body shape--and so it could be a very nice looking guitar--as is the Mustang posted above.

I would consider keeping it, but that depends on what you can get for it, and how much it means to you, as well as how much it fits your style.
