hello everybody,

i'm owner of a "strat" 1976. I have to change the master volume(250 K ohm pot) and the 2 tone controls( 250 K ohm pots).

My question: can i buy the SAME pots fender for the volume and tones?

thanks for the answer.

Welcome.

Yes, they are exactly the same.

Rather than start a new thread I'll piggy back this one...

Is there a difference between the vol/tone knobs on MIM and MIA Strats? They sit higher above the pickguard on my MIM than my MIA, the MIA is almost touching.

I guess it could be a difference in the pots too, the shafts could be longer.

No, they are identical. Post 2006, the MIM and MIA pots are structurally identical as well.

Hi,

This is my first post here. I have a '64 Strat and the volume pot has quit working. Any suggestions where I can get a suitable (Vintage?) replacement? Thanks!

Welcome.

There are two approaches to this:

1. Google for shops which specialize in such replacement parts. Be prepared to pay around $1K for one however.

2. Replace the defective one with a contemporary one but keep the original in the case.

Of note: Oftentimes, the price one has to pay to replace a vintage part with a vintage part is the differential in what one sells the vintage instrument for with a replaced, contemporary part. Again, provided that the original is still in the case.

Thanks for the quick response Martian. I'm certainly not going to drop a grand on a 5 dollar part, LOL. What a crazy world we live in. Any suggestions on where to get a good replacement? StewMac? Thanks again.

Glad to help.

Not StewMac. They don't have high grade pots like those found in Fenders.

Any decent Fender dealer should have them readily in stock. You want a 250K, split shaft pot. For your convenience, the part number is: 0013446000.

Split shaft and AUDIO taper pots.

You're welcome.
