Hey everybody hows it going ? I've been searching for a very , very long time for the best way to string my fender strat . Alot of people say to run the string through, turn the tuning key and when it starts to bend , bend it back around ,under and then over . Does this seem right to yall / or did i make any since ? LOL
I just want to learn and get the best out of my guitar , she's very special to me . Emily is a 1994 40th anniversary special edition Fender Stratocaster usa .

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME , I REALY WOULD APPRECIATE IT VERY MUCH .

Depends on the tuners.

Vintage style ( hole down the center)

Cut the sting 1 1/2 inch from the post

stick the end in the hole

have the slot of the peg running with the neck (i.e. up and down) and bend the string over the top of the post ( top of the headstock side).

Hold the string down above the nut with one finger and turn the tuner so the string winds DOWN the peg. Tension the string a little under pitch.

Stretch the strings a couple times going up and down the fretboard, tune up, stretch some more and retune.

"pre-streatching" the new stings is a BIG part of helping stay in tune.

The thing is you don't want a bunch of winds on the post that can slip. That's why you cut the string to 1 /2".

or Hole in the side:

I always make sure the string crosses over itself once on the tuner post and that its final position at tune is the lowest wrap on the post. That means the wraps start high, (above the hole) cross over and end low (below the hole).

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

1. Feed through and make an S bend
2. Around the back and under
3. Up and over
4. Wind on

All movements should be pulling the string tightly in place which will help to prevent the string coming lose while winding and slipping while tuning.

Hey yall , sorry i'm late getting back here to forums . I just wanted to say thanks for all your'e help . Hey i tried a different way to string it , it's kinda like a slip not and to tell you the truth it works great . Sounds crazy but it works......
Line the tuners up with the neck ,
Run the string through
Cut about an inch off or so .
Bend the string back around , then wrap the string around it's self twice , pull tight and run the string through the small loop hole between the post and the string and pull tight and keep tight . Hold the string down as you wind .

If you do this right everytime you wind the slip not will tighten .
I've had the strings on now for about three weeks and it hasn't gone out of tune yet .
My brother-n- law who does'nt know how to play but is a master at knot tieing showed me this . So after about 5 or 6 bottom E strings i finally got it right .

Please try this method , it works . I've never seen or heard of anyone doing it like this before , but it really works great ...
::::::::::::::SLIP KNOT METHOD ::::::::

TAKE CARE
JEFF

Sounds interesting but not required. Think about also when you go to pull the string off next time. Anything more elaborate than the above diagram is just a waste of time.

It never slips, works on staggered tuner poles, is fast to put on and when done all the strings are presented upwards for trimming.
I have a pro setup video from the 80s and it was being used way back then.

The technique talked about folding the string under itself and over is what fender recommends for stringing a guitar, and I find that when using standard tremolo, this is the best technique.
*all in use with a little lube up in the nut and where the string contacts the saddles.
