Floyds, Foto Flames, Contemporary, Talon, Heartfield etc.. if its MIJ, put it up!  This is for the enthusiasts, and to show those who haven’t seen these before what the MIJ/CIJ range is, and to show what you dont get with MIM 

Hi Blertles: might be a promising thread - nice start!

On that '57 with the Sensors, I wonder what that extra little cover on the back is for?

Anyway, just to get in on the action, here's my CIJ Fiesta Red '57 RI on the day of its collection last autumn:

The sticker and tag didn't last for long:

That immediately became one of my "go to" guitars. Can't find a thing to fault on it. Neat!

Cheers - C

So are these guitars still in production? I like the 57 RI w/ Lace Sensors!

I've always felt the quality of these CIJ/MIJ Strats is top notch... the fit and finish of the bodies and necks it wonderful. I won't bash the MIM stuff (too badly) but they haven't always been up to par with the Japanese models.

Who knows, maybe 2010 will provide some surprises from Mexico... the new FSR Road Worn Custom & Deluxe Telecasters look cool but haven't seen or played one so who knows how well built they are.

Nice pics of some fantastic looking guitars. I'll have to see if I can come up with pics of my mid 80's MIJ's for this thread.

It's probably for the battery....

I'll bet the picjups on the red strat are EMGs as most (if not all) Laces are passive and do not require a battery or more likely there is a preamp onboard.

Yes, that was what I was getting at. Sensors don't need batteries. And what's any kind of active circuitry doing in a '57 RI anyway?

I wonder where the photo came from and if the source gives any clue as to whether they are indeed EMGs after all?

Nice to see those guits BTW, Chet. I knew about some of your MIJs, but not all of them...

Cheers - C
