What do you mean by low? The price? Cause it's a auction, and what it is at now, is not going to be the price it sells for. A lot of people wait until the last few minutes to bid.

That is a great price, but I am interested in knowing more about the "neck upgrade" and if the body is American. Chance are the seller put an American neck and plate on a MIM or non Fender body and is trying to pass it as an all American Strat. I have friends who have been dupped into buying what they thought was a Fender guitar and it ended up being an Allparts body with a fender neck which completely diminishes the value of the guitar. That is just my opinion and personal experience. If I knew for sure that this was the real deal I would buy it. It's just really hard to tell through pics on Ebay.

Just go to where it says ask seller questions and ask away. You are fully covered under paypal and if something does not come as decribed you will not have a problem getting back your scratch. But as Orville pinned out it has no case. Just punch in Fender Stratocaster and 2,000 listings will show. I am sure you will find at least 10 better guitars in everyway.

Hi Sandling2: far as the neck is concerned, the last "upgrade" to the American Strat involved darkening the tint of the lacquer - and I think that was it. The upgrade also involved the copper infused bridge block mentioned on that Ebay sale.

The bit that is worrying me about the sale is the pickguard. From the pics it looks like it still has its protective plastic on it, which would seem a good thing. But if so, where are the American Strat stickers we should see there? Very hard to get those stickers off without taking the protective film with them. Were the proper stickers ever on that pickguard in the first place?

And I stand to be corrected, but has the American Standard come with a single ply pickguard in recent years? I don't recall it doing so. If I have that right (and I may not) then it strongly suggests the guitar has been modified - within which case it is not stock as claimed and you therefore can't trust anything else that is being said about it.

I am not an ultimate authority on this by a country mile, so take all of that with a pinch of salt. But there's some questions you might want to ask the seller, at any rate.

Good luck - C

EDIT: and on double checking, of course the Am Std doesn't currently come with a black pickguard at all, let alone on the three color sunburst. Even if this Strat started out as a US Standard it has had the 'guard changed and quite possibly the electronics with it. Walk away...

I'm probably considered old school, but I much rather feel, play and listen to a guitar, at a guitar shop, before I consider purchase. I wouldn't want to go thru the hassle of returns or shipping worries. Find out as much as possible, make sure you get 100% satisfaction or money back. Good luck.
