Check out the CS forum under the Ask Mike tab. Mike Eldred says that they will be making a true CS replica of the Mayer Strat. My lead player has one of the older models and it is one of the best sounding Strats I have ever heard. I wish they would sell the "Big Dippers" in a three pack or individual.

if you read the thread that guy above me posted, you will find out that JM is teaming up with the FCS to build 83 replicas of The Black One. This project has been ongoing for like the last year, and the threads been around just as long. I, along with tons of other people, have known and posted there. No biggie though.

when I say DVD, I'm talking about the DVD they'll be including with the guitar.

That Squier Strat has a thick Poly finish just like the MIM Strats. The relic job there is the result of a heat gun and a scraper. The finish is so thick you can see it in the photos when you compare the painted areas to the bare wood. My first attempt at an SRV relic was with a Poly body and I didn't get past the back side because it looked like total crap. It looked like what it was, which is an attempt to ruin a finish to make it look used. It looked nothing like a used finish as this one here doesn't. The relic look that some enjoy is IMHO only available with a Nitro finish. Old beat Poly finish modern guitars look more abused then used. Hence my thinking that if I aint the one wearing it down after years of playing, then I probably don't have the right to expedite the matter and ruin a perfectly good looking guitar.

No. for the last time, it isn't a joke. all the Custom Tribute series models include a DVD with behind-the-scenes videos, interviews wiht the artist/builders, and in the case of The Black One, the original vido of John in 2004, building the original.

need I repeat myself again? did that get through to your brain?

Just kinda made me sick to look at it. Like a car accident. The more I looked, the more it made me sick.

IMO it sounds kinda ____ that there needs to be a DVD of how its made to justify its cost. I don,t get a DVD when I spend $70,000 on a car. But I guess its not John Mayers car.
