I like relic'd or used looking gear. This one looks like crap. It appears someone took the paint off with a heat gun because of the sharp paint edges. True worn guitars have the finish removed smoothly from someone's arm running across the body. SRV strat look so bad because he'd stand on it, throw it against a wall, and actually beat the guitar for his act. Worn guitars look best when they look worn from playing, not dragging behind a car on a dirt road for a month... just my opinion

as one of the leading experts and sources of info on The Black One, I'm stunned that anyone would build such an in-accurate replica, let alone try to sell it. See my replica on the official TBO thread to see a true replica. That seller needs shot.

Come on guys. I'm being sarcastic! I think some of yall got it but I think some of you guys think I might possibly be a complete idiot.
I'm not a big relic fan myself and I'm also not a leading expert on all things JM but that is the biggest piece of crap I've seen in awhile. Thats not a relic. Thats a melted pile of junk.
It amazes me that people try to sell these things and that some are actually successful. I feel sorry for the poor sap or old grandmother trying to suprise her grandson that actually will lay down a 20 for this.

Sounds like a line from "Casablanca". Forty some odd years from now you'll find yourself less stunned. 8)

I knew you got me from the get go. I'm not trying to say anything about the folks that didn't get that one but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't widely considered an idiot for that posting.

Throw it in the garbage.
I think I am missing something with the whole "relic" fad.
Final bid? Give ME $100 and I'll take it off their hands

Well ... it is a heavy relic in the John Mayer style.

However, does it accurately match the relicing of the much loved original "Black One" Custom Shop Relic? I guess that's up to the buyer ...

Is the story of the original that John Mayer participated in the relicing of the Black One at the Custom Shop? (I'm too lazy to google it.)

yes, you're correct. apparently they even recorded it. he picked the body, neck, and color, and etc.

word on the street is that'll be on the TBO DVD.
