I'll probably just stick to my 21 fret Strats then.

The only time I wish I had a 24 fret strat is when I play the solo from Pink Floyd's Money.

I wanted a Strat with 24 frets also, in fact I wanted one with 22 (finally suppllied with my '07 American) - after some research I ended up purchasing a 1988 HM Strat. This guitar was apparently Fender's answer to the Kramer's of the day - flat bolt on neck - 24 frets with a Dimarizo in the bridge, 2 single coils with a coil tap and a Kahler spyder trem.

From my understanding these guitars are becoming more and more collectable - you will find some "funky" colors - hot pink and turquoise out there , I lucked out with a white one. I contacted kahler and got a new w/bar and some missing screws for the nut (very helpful btw)

Another road to the Fender 24 fret dilemma is a Showmaster. I purchased the Korean Blackout model and really like it. 24 fret neck through floating trem, locking turners and Seymore Duncans.

I had no i9dea showmasters had 24 frets until I looked closer at one just now, awesome. Fender should make more "different" guitars. Like a 24 fret tele or strat or whatever. I think they need more unique setups and they should promte their other guitars like the mustangs and the Jags. A Mexican Jag would really sell I think. AA mustang with Humbuckers would be sweet too. Oh I alkmost forgot about the JagStangs! Yeah start making some of those again!

24 frets? That's 3 more than I'd ever need. If I go higher than 21, it's with a slide.

The 24-fret product line is called the Fender Showmaster.

Yeah, it's a drag to have to go lower to play the last section of the Money solo. It just doesn't sound right, but thats the way I've seen Dave do it too.

Know what I realised, the MIM strats come with 21 frets but theres plenty of room to stick in a 22nd. Don't know why Fender left that out.

it'd be nice to have 24 frets, but most of the time i wouldn't need em.

Wow, I haven't seen one of them for 20 years. Not too many of those around.

I own a 1990 Fender USA HM Strat and it has one of the nicest necks on any Fender I've played. It has a thin wide 24 fret maple neck. It also has a sculpted heel to allow access to all 24 frets. The neck plate is also shaped to allow easy access. It is great for all those times that you just want to go higher!! It's too bad Fender does not make them anymore.
