Can anyone tell me what a 2006 Alpine white Les Paul studio with classic 1957 pickup might be worth?

Not really into Fender/Gibson as much as Ford over chevy. Both are great guitars and I know that there are people on here with extensive knowledge on both. Thank you for the info, where did you come up with these numbers? Did the price include the pick up upgrades?

A pickup change is more likely to lessen the price than boost it. Used studio's go for about £600 here.

Tex: Being a newbie, and always welcome, you can't know that you've just asked Albert Einstein how he derived the General Theory of Relativity.

Treat the information as a welcome aboard from probably the world's expert on a pioneering line of Fender Stratocasters and one helluva luthier, to boot. Scroll down to the thread.."The building of a custom Strat Plus" on this forum. He can do to Strats what you might be able to do to Fords.

Just as with classic cars, there are, in the world of vintage guitars, a host of blue books, websites and other resources where this stuff can be gleaned.

Have a look at Gruhn's Guitars for one and continue to hang around here for the other.

Doc.

Ya, I have a pretty extensive Gibson collection. LOL. I love some of my old Gibsons, but in a Fender forum! Taboo!

Anyhow these prices are from the Blue Book of guitars. Here is what it says, by the way:

LES PAUL STUDIO (LPST) - single sharp cutaway mahogany or swamp ash (new 2003) body, carved maple top, raised black pickguard, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlay, tune-o-matic bridge/stop tailpiece, 3-per-side tuners, chrome hardware, 2 covered humbucker pickups, 2 volume/2 tone controls, 3-position switch. Available in Alpine White (AW), Classic White, Fireburst, Platinum (mfg. 2003-2005), Pewter (PT, mfg. 2002), Gothic (disc.), Ebony (EB), Blue Teal Flip-Flop (BT, disc. 2005), White (disc. 1994), or Wine Red (WR) finishes, mfg. 1984-1998, reintroduced 2001.

Also I was wrong. There is an Alpine White (AW). Regarding the pickup upgrade. That can either lower or raise the value, depending on the interested/potential buyer. Some would wonder how well the job was done, some might rather it was original, and then others might pay a little more for the upgrade. So the figures are suggestions. Even how and where you sell it can affect the outcome of the sale.

I knew when I posted the thread I would get flack from people who can appreciate that Gibson makes a great guitar as well as Fender and who are a little narrow minded. BUt, I also knew that there are people on here like Xhefr, who are knowledgeable and are great asset to the rest of us. Thank you Xhefr, you were very helpful as I just purchased my first Gibson to add to my guitar collection and at a fair price according to your numbers.

Regret that it came across as flack. That was not my intent.
Pleased that your inquiry was fully addressed.

I've never taken it that Gibson is taboo here. We were all quick enough to knock the hendrix model, that discussion wasnt taboo at all. Whats good for the goos and all that. I think fender (if they care at all about it) would rather their users portray a good adult attitude and help the guy out.

We did, syntax not withstanding, and and my 2002 Les Paul Custom Shop Heritage Classic appears to have concurred. I suppose having leased three Lincolns in the past 15 years should speak for something as well.

Now my Callaway Corvette took issue with this individual's preference in auto makers, but not enough to have dissuaded lending a helping hand.

Even a caveman can do it.

I thought it all was fun to rib the guy about posting a Gibson question on a Fender forum! Funny!  But music, guitars and tech should all be about fun anyhow. When we get too serious about it all, then bad feelings can come in. Man, I have seen a lot over the years playing in a lot of bands and working and living in a music store when I was 18. Personalities sure can play into things.

I knew Doc was just joking around, but I find it is easy to be misunderstood in these digital formats (forums, texting and emails, etc.) So far I AM having fun, be still trying to be careful so I don't offend someone. 8)
