Well my 1st winter using a strat, and I have the habit to have my pinky finger rubbing the pickguard while playing and that is giving static noise in my sound. I have few things in mind to try out but I'm wondering if someone has a simple a magical trick to share?

Thanks,
rw

yeah rw,
i was having the same prob.
dont laugh, but try this.
play the guitar, when you start to hear the static,
get a laundry anti static dryer sheet, and rub the pickguard.
it should go away.

pretty simple solution.

oh, keep a couple in the case in a zip lock bag.

Put one of those dryer sheets under the pickguard.

Yes, you can. Until the static returns. Then just replace it.

My wife shuffled over to me the other day and touched me while I was playing my Strat while hooked up to my pocket POD. The screen went blank and I lost power for about 10 seconds before it reloaded and started again. I thought she had shorted out my POD and my Strat. Luckily no damage, if that's even possible.

Man bluesstrattone, you beat me too it. I live in a very dry climate and I have this problem on everything from my Clapton strat (which really suprized me as it has Gold Lace pickups) to several of my Teles (the 52s are the worst). I also play with my edge of my hand, or a few fingers, rubbing the pickguard. On some guitars I have a Bounce sheet (Cloth drier Anti-static sheet ) stuck under the strings when I am not playing them. When i get one out, lightly rub it on the pickguard and it is good for the evening!

lmao,
i thought i was one of the only ones, the rest had more sophisticated ways
of removing static cling...
