I remember when he died i was like 8 or 9... That weekend my parents went to Betty and Harry Seniards house to watch or listen to the funeral..I had just been given my first cassette radio recorder and the local radio station KADI 96 FM had a 6 hour tribute to The King...I sat in Betty and Harry's ski boat under the carport and recorded all 6 plus hours of that tribute i still have those tapes at my mothers house...

My first album i ever bought was Elvis Blue Moon over Kentucky...There was a kid in my class named David Bassey he had every album ever made man did i envy him..

The King is dead but long live the King....

I was just going to post something about Elvis.

One of the TV channels has been playing Elvis movies all day long.

Man I love the King. I was 6 when he died. Couldn't really appreciate the singer/showman; but have grown to love. I love watching the Aloha from Hi concert. Tremendous musicains and artists.

Have a family member that "allegedly" did some singing with Elvis, very early on... he (family member) always joked that if he'd "gotten there" first, Elvis would still be driving trucks  Of course I couldn't tell you how much of that little tale is fact, but it was always fun to hear him ramble on.

Peace

When Elvis first became popular he inspired me to play the guitar. He changed music for the younger generation with his style of playing. Between drugs and plane crashes we`ve lost so many good musicians and I find that very sad. Who knows how good these people would have become had they have had more time.

Still the most famous voice heard on the planet. Even my parents had to admit he was a great singer. He was Rock and Roll

Elvis, maybe one of the few great musicians who people don't worship because he is dead, but because he was actually good.

I know Elvis was important, but he never did much for me. Perhaps it's because I'm from the UK rather the US.

His shelf life as an innovator was quite short it seems to me. He was a cabaret act long before he died.

But fair play. For his 'vital' years alone he deserves his reputation. They do say the light that burns twice as bright, burns half as long..

Too bad he never enjoyed the sweet sound of a Strat!

I never liked Elvis that much either. Never has such a good voice been forced to sing such bad songs. Only a few of his songs really appealed to me - the ones that genuinely rocked.

Somebody mentioned that he eventually turned into a cabaret act. I can see that. But I figure as guitar players we can put up with that just to hear James Burton on lead guitar.
