Does anyone else here get an "itch" from goin a couple days of not playin? The way my schedual (and I'm sure some of you) works I end up taking 3 day haiatuses (spelling?) from playing. By the third day I've got this need to play again. It's kinda like an odd junkie intch. Bad analogy I know but it's the best thing I can think of to call it. Anyway I was feeling that way today and can't really pick up my guitar today either.

Hi m7b5: there's several things that give me an itch if I don't do them for a few days.

Music is one of them.

And there's plenty more itch jokes to be made too. But maybe not on this "family friendly" Forum. Or at least - I'll leave it to others to get this thread locked...

Cheers - C

Always. Especially during the weekends when I can't play as loud as I like and sometimes just forego playing. Taking a couple days off every once in a while is good for memorization and muscles. All things in good stride.

I make my living playing the guitar...So i literally practice on an average of four hours a day..But every once in awhile i just don't want to play normally when im getting frustrated about not being able to do something i feel i should be able to accomplish without much difficulty...So i put down the guitar for a couple days..
The only problem is my favorite Strat and 335 are in my bedroom/office about 4 feet from the bed so i have to look at them ell the time after the third day i feel so guilty almost like i'm playing hookie from work..After the fourth day i'm like a heroin addict going cold turkey...

Once you start playing, you're hooked for the rest of your life. It's inside of all, well most, of us here. It's simple as that. You either have that something that made you start playing in the first place, or you don't. In which case you wouldn't be playing at all if you didn't have it. Well, something like that. You understand what I mean.
Am I a complicated person, or what!?

I decided to quit back in the early 90s and sold everything. That lasted about six months before I couldn't take it anymore. As bad as I thought I was or as undriven to become professional or get in another bad, playing guitar is in me. I can't quit you.

I think playing guitar, well actually any instrument really, is one of those things that you need someone to explain you then you wouldn't really understand. I'm glad I picked up the guitar 15+ years ago. Not one day did I ever regret it. I do regret not learning to play the piano, though; it would have been a great compliment to the guitar (and, I play drums too, LOL).

Yeah, well that would be one of 'em for sure! Ew...

On which: I have a friend who builds and sails yachts - not necessarily big enough to have much in the way of hygiene facilities on board. He told me that the first month at sea is the worst. After that you acclimatise and can't smell yourself anymore...

Damn, the itching that must involve!!!

Cheers - C

Is this the literal meaning of 'poop deck'?

Camping gets a bit messy as well, especially if you're tent camping without any 'facilities' nearby. You smell like smoke most of the time, covered in grime, and don't ask about that itch we're now on about. :)

Always pack unscented wipes when I'm on a motorcycle tour. Man's best friend! 8) Fresh and clean comes to mind.

Oh yeah... playing. Almost forgot. I played enough today that I can feel the heartbeat in my fingertips on my left hand.
