If I want a 2010 Strat, (basically Deluxe type features), I’m limited to Sunburst; unless I go with an Artist line or Custom shop? Is that, in a nutshell, correct?

Also, I noticed Fender killed the Deluxe QMT/FMT. I guess not enough interest. Oh well.
Peace,

Interesting observation and comment. I had a look, and yes youre correct, you are limited to sunburst and amber( Montego Black, Olympic Pearl- thank goodness, Chrome Silver have dissappeared) also you are correct- QMT and FMT have indeed disappeared off the radar. Not to say they wont be replaced by something else, If I was you and in the market- hold your horses and see what comes next week.

I have heard that there are going to be changes made... If they put a pickguard on the QMT/FMT, and they gave the Deluxe more candy colours, they would be breathing life back into those guitars.

Lets not hope they take the focus to the less expensive end of the spectrum instead- which I am worried about also

Hi 84whiteONwhite: another thing to bear in mind is that when items are discontinued from the catalog they are still to be found in shops for a while. So if you are after a particular recent item do some energetic shopping around without delay.

Non-chain shops often seem to have a slower turnover of stock and can sometimes be a good place to look for discontinued gear. And of course Dr Google can be very helpful if you use it intelligently...

Good luck - C

Or, you can do what I did. :) Buy a American Deluxe Strat (new or used in mint condition) and get it refinished. A single color, candy or metal flake finish isn't that expensive ($250-$450). This guitar used to be Aged Cherry Sunburst.

Thanks for the help guys. I have been stalking QMT's on Google since before Christmas. I'm "sort-of" waiting on a couple things to fall into place, otherwise I'd be holding my QMT now :D There are still a few places showing up on Google that appear to have them. So, should the chips fall my way, I'll see what I can find. Otherwise, my "local owned" shop, which is really pseudo chain, told me to wait as well; to after NAMM and see what shook out. Couldn't tell ya when NAMM is, but OK.

I realize the QMT/FMT are not the "movers" of the American standards, and VRI 57, 62, and Deluxe and so on; but I love 'em. I, for one, would love to see more colors available for the Deluxe line(s); nothing against any of the Sunburst, just a preference thing. Or, perhaps a SSS deluxe with the QMT/FMT look, roller nut, ebony board 8)

Anyway, if any of you guys here of something new coming down the line, feel free to post it here.

Edit to say, D$mn fine looking guitar there my man. Very nice!

Thanks for the help,
Peace,

84

I would love for them to come out of left field with something totally fresh that takes players by storm.

Although I dont own one, I use the American Deluxe necks on my guitars and love them. Also, I have messed around with the S-1 switching and think that its a great addition. Cool guitar + great tone = good times! I dig the Montego Black the most.

Wow... Covering a Flame or quilt top with a pick guard would be just... wow...
