I might be wrong ,but it doesnt appear to come in rosewood. :(

Check this out:

http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... an+Special

Rosewood is an option for the HSS ones. I like the red one (SSS).

RK
They must be banking on the Texas Specials plus the price keeping it going .The choices are kind of boring.I am glad I got the MIA version.

I´m a little bit interested on the HSS version, but only if it comes with a maple fretboard and more finish options.
When Fender started to do all the propaganda noise, I tought "yeah, again another model with just a few color options and only rosewood fretboard"
So, I went to the website to see the pictures...and I was right, sadly.

Fender has too many models, that are in fact too similar between them.
I´m starting to feel bored...

i will be getting one of these for sure, i'm a huge fan of the highwayone series because i like the huge frets ( not the finish!) my only gripe with this new strat is the all gloss neck, i much prefer the satin finish. I guess i will maybe take some fine sandpaper to it. :D

I'm not a fan of glossy necks either. At least they're fairly easy to fix. :D

Is the whole neck glossed or just the front like the MIA Standards? Some gloss necks I dont like ,but the one on my SRV is great.

I believe the gloss is just on the front of the neck.

You got it right! Better pickups and that's about it. Personally I think it was a great guitar right up until I saw the 70's headstock. Not much of a difference from the Highway 1. Glossy finish and better pickups. Still a Highway 1, just a new coat of comestic differences...

I am still unclear concerning the finish on the back of the neck. According to the Pro Guitar Shop video above, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBxMMHJ2B-E), the neck back is satin, according to the specs and one of my contacts at FMC, the neck back is gloss.

Really not a deal breaker for me but could be for others so I'll see if I can get this sorted. For the moment I still feel that it has a satin finished neck back.

Sounds freakin great to me. I am going to pick one up as soon as they hit the showroom. I always liked the looks of the Hwy 1, but the paint and pickups didn't do it for me. I'm pretty sure that with all of the similarities between the two, the Hwy 1 is on its way out of production. Fender in 2010 is going to be great. I hope that they introduce another gem this year.
