Whats up you Fender maniacs. Been a while since Ive been on, Ive been plauged with more health issues. My back injuries have gotten worse, my 5 disks the were slightly bulging and herniated are now up to very moderate and cause of that and now walking with a cane, I am a bit clumsy and took a spill...OK, I trippped over my slippers..Haha, into the foot of my bed, which is iron and fractured and brusied 4 ribs.

So what do you do when your laid up....start moddding all your guitars. Heres the problem I am having, I bought a Seymour Duncal Pearly Gates off ebay, working, but the guy had it hooked up as a regular Hum, I am looking to coil split it, so I Followed the wiring schematics right off Seymour Duncans page and just cant get it to work. now I have 2 Vol and 2 Ton push Pul pots, 1 set has A500K and 1 set has B500K. the guy I got em from said A500K is the volume, but lookking at another Strat I have, the single volume is a B500K. ive wired plenty guitars, but this is the first time doing a coil splitting job.

If anyone can help out or has any advice before I bring it to the local music store and get charges way to much just to solder 4 wires, I would be most greatful. I also have a double Hum loaded Pickguard that I am upgrading with Duncans, but am holding off till I can get this one right.

Thanks all you guys, I hope every one had and is having a Great New Year!!!!

What is exactly working and not working so far? Pictures can help also.

Your reading under "Coil Splitting" yes?

That pot being the volume pot. Your hot from the jack tip (via the 5 way switch) would come to the middle pin. The red and white when shorted to ground (case) will give you single coil. So make sure your other pin leg is onto ground and you complete a proper ground loop back eventually to the ground on the jack. When finally testing be sure to push pop the pot and adjust volume 3/4s in either direction. Pick tapping on the poles is a fast test.

If running into further problems don't use the 5 way switch for now and forget the other part of the circuit. If you need to just test the jack hot straight to the pickup. You need to obviously verify you have a functional pickup first of all.

As for which pot to use audio taper normally for volume. Optional for tone.
Linear will let you know more where "halfway" tone is (dependent on wiring).

New Pots:
A is audio taper
B is a linear taper
Old Pots:
A is a linear taper
C audio taper
Lastly:
D 10% audio taper (at mid instead of 15%)

Let us know how you get on. Make sure you have your original wiring diagram down so you can at least post it or go back to it.
