Newbie question...

Do the Mexican Standard Stratocasters have "swimming pool" pickup routes?

i recently installed a rail style, single coil sized humbucker in my strat...
(it was professionaly installed, so i didnt get to see inside the guitar)

i am not completly happy with the pickup because it has a tad too much midrange for my taste.
so i was wondering if the MIMs have swimming pool routes so i can go for a full size humbucker.

also, what is the difference, tonewise, between swimming pool and SSS/SSH/HSH routing?

ok, i took off the pickguard and took a look:

it looks like an SSH route but i am not 100% positive...

http://www.freewebs.com/line6man/pictures.htm

is this an SSH? (picture of the guitar)

also, there are 3 drilled out dots in the guitar, to the right of the pickups, and above the control cavity.
what are they for?

The American Standard - 1987 to 2000 was the guitar that had the swimming pool rout. MIM's never did.

Yeah, I heard about that too, but I bought my American Standard strat in early 2000 and it has HSH routing in it, not swimming pool. Could this possibly be a transition body, between the American Standard and the American Series?

Is the bass tone pot a TBX. Fender switched from The Am Standard during 2000. If the tone pot is a delta tone then your may have the American Series version.

The tone pot is a delta tone, but I'm sure my guitar is not an American Series version. It came with two string trees, pickups with all flush pole pieces, a white (not parchment) pickguard, and standard fender tuners. So, even though it has hsh routing in it, I'm convinced that it's a late-model American Standard. I bought it in March of 2000 and I believe the new Am. series came out later that year. The serial number begins with N9.
