I cant see how anyone would relate this to a squier, it's stock as Xhefri pointed out. There isnt any clues as to why it would be.

Because they arent sold in USA, I guess there is a little confusion with them.

Im going to start a Japanese Fender thread soon and post pics of some model examples- I bet a lot of people on this forum will be surprised at the quality and the variations you can get with Fender Japan that you cant get with Mexico :P

The only thing that concerns me is that there are no markings to identify the body. I have never seen a Fender Strat body without something to identify where it came from, if not on the body itself, at least a sticker on bottom of pickguard.

Many of the 62 Strat bodies did not have much for markings. Here is a pict of a 1996 MIJ 62 RI in Foto Flame I have on file. One that I customized a few years back

No writing in the neck socket on that one. Also the brodge should look like this:

Weird it has 500k pots, but then when I looked at all I have I see some in the pile—so they were used. Most have A250K on the back and some 500K on the back.

Hi Thanks, I only made the squier comment after digging online, and looking at some of the japanese squiers which seemed to have the same type of hardware on them. The bridge saddles on mine do not have any japan marking on them, all of the japanese fenders I saw had Japan stamped on them.

I think a Japanese Fender thread/forum would be great. Digging online, there is not nearly as much info as I would assume that there should be on these things.

Also to clarify, I am very happy with the purchase even if it is a "partscaster" with a japanese neck. Just want to know what I have.

Planning several upgrades already which will make the guitar even nicer
Ordering new electronics tonight, probably SSL-1's or a 57/62 set preloaded in a pearloid pickguard, then once that is done, will look at upgrading the trem system, block and saddles.

Thanks Tom

Hey Tom,

You saddles should say FENDER on them. I am sure you do not have a partscastor! You have a very clean 62 MIJ Reissue! ;-)

Some saddles say nothing. It is quite possible that it is just a MIJ Standard Strat. There are many different variations of the MIJ Standard Strats. The variations were just whatever parts were in the parts bins on that particular day.

I took some pics of the guitar, the neck didn't turn out as clear as I hoped. This shows the electronics and routing pretty clearly as well as the neck pocket.
