Ive posted this question in the past. Last summer, after calling a local northeast music shop chain to see if they had any Fender Pure Nickel 11 gauge strings in stock(which no store ever does) they told me no, and that Fender were no longer making them. Knowing the sales reps at this store (and most of this particular chain's stores know next to nothing about what they sell, or what theyre ever talking about) I went in to check. Sure enough, right infront of me on the wall behind the counter, were Fender Pure Nickel .11 gauges, which I picked up a few packs. All my inquiries into this kids statement about them not making strings anymore pointed to the fact that yes, indeed, they will still be making them. Flash forward to a few days ago. I get a call from the rep at Sweetwater I deal with telling me that If I need strings, I should order up, because fender are discontinuing them. I asked him if Fender just arent making strings, and he said, well they're not making those strings.
Does anyone know what's going on with this? I see an ad in this months Guitar Player for fender strings. They appear to be in different packaging, and am wondering if they're still making the strings I use, but may be changing something like the packaging, making the bar-code change or something to give the impression that they wont be making Pure Nickel 11's anymore.

I have not heard anything on the subject but if it is true other companies still make them.
