All of my guitars have their original pickups and I'm very happy with them. :)

I've got staggered poles on my Strat (Alnico 3's, as it's a H1). I like them just fine.

Staggared poles on the neck and middle on my H-1. I have a Dimarzio SD int he bridge. It has adjustable poles, but I have left them the way they came in the package.

Both my strat have pups with staggered poles and I like them. I've never played a set with flush poles though.

I can't remember which one of you guys talked about the staggered poles being set for the string gauges used way back when and therefore are not balanced for todays gauges. The height of the poles for the G string in my texas specials vary between the three pickups, I guess the previous owner changed them.

With that said, what should the pole heights be to make them balanced?

I have a set of Chevalier 1962s (formerly known as Copperheads) with staggered pole pieces. The balance is fine, and they sound great.

No. What am I missing? I've got Delta-Tone high output bridge pup and no load tone control for bridge and mid. To my rookie ear they sound OK. :|

I think I remember forum member Martian discussing pole heights and a way of magnetizing all six strings the same. Something about pressing all your strings down at the same time(using both hands) and touching them to the poles and then releasing them back up at the same time. I could be all wrong though!! :?

Here is the thread.

I have MIM Lonestar Deluxe. I love the look of the guitar and it has the Texas Specials in the Neck and Middle position. Those are staggered. But I don't like them in my guitar because the MIM Strat necks are not as wide as American the the High e does not line up over the neck pole piece. The Texas Specials are awesome in MIA Strats, but MIM Strat's are ok. I'm trading mine out for Vintage Noiseless because of it.
