I usually use Red in the bridge as it is the hottest and is voiced more like a humbucker. But then you need to consider what the neck and middle will be. Putting a Red in the bridge and simply Golds in the other positions, will cause the bridge to be a lot hotter on the output... That is why the DX Plus use Blue, Silver, and Red. A nice combo but not as bright and chimey as golds....

I would of liked to of snagged the original for $500. Guess I need to watch ebay closer, too busy watching craigslist.

It still amazes me these guitars do not sell for more as they are great axes. I have that Blue Burst on my Ultra and the guitar is the best looking Fender I have by a long shot. I would really like to grab an Ultra or a Plus in Firestorm as I have seen one in person and it is smoking, but I would pass on that without the original bridge and worming unless you are looking for a straight up player which in that case I would buy one from Xhefri.
