Hi
What is the best replacement Strat that does similar things to a VG - I am a beginner but love the sound and adaptability. I am in Australia and you can still buy the VG. :D

If you want a strat, my advice is to get it while you can :)

Welcome to the forum too by the way :D

Welcome, Jane!

I'm in Melbourne, Australia (but don't hold that against me... ;) ).

I got a Highway 1 Strat back in August, but I'm just a hobbyist, and don't play in a band.

I also checked out the VG Strat some time ago, and decided it wasn't for me. I've noticed that they're a tad cheaper now than they were when they first appeared (not by much, but a little bit).

Well since they are discontinued you can get one for a lot cheaper than a tad on ebay. I would say mint in the $900 range.

Yeah, but the pricing in Australia is much different - American made guitars are WAY more expensive than they are in America, if you're buying them brand new.

Also, discontinued doesn't always mean reduced in price over here. The more uncommon the model of guitar, the more expensive it tends to remain.

For example, these axes were discontinued some time ago, but look at the price on this! :)

Thanks everyone for your comments. The VG on sale at Allans in SA is $2700 Aus whereas its RRP is $4000 approx. I looked on EBay and couldn't find one in Australia. Does anyone know why it has been discontinued? :)

Hi Jane, Welcome to the forum Mate.

I am from Adelaide SA and I recently purchased a Fender Blues Junior amp from Allans at a really really good price.

They have just had a massive Sale this weekend that was really good.

Mind you though, I grabbed my BJ before the Sale!!!!
