You guys are going to laugh about this one. When I bought my last guitar (New Squier CV 60), the kid says don't forget your whammy bar. He pulls out this coffee can pulls out a few bars, looks at the tips (looking for vintage white) and gives it to me. I was like, "Are you sure this is the right one?" He says, "No." It threads in nicely, I take it. He then tells me that not everyone gets the whammy bar.

Nice

Whew...thanks, I thought it was just me that had this issue. Who do you have to know to get a whammy bar for an American Deluxe strat around here? I've been back to Guitar Center three times to get one, getting the wrong one each time. Okay, rant over - all better now. :)[/quote]

Now that sounds familiar. My FSR American Deluxe VG came via an inter-store transfer and it was accompanied by a vintage trem arm. :? Life being what it is, I never got back to having it exchanged. It's on my bucket list for 2010. 8)

All my Strats' tremolo bars are present and accounted for... each stays in its case with the appropriate guitar.

I did have trouble getting the tremolo bar for a '65 Mustang Reissue I bought new at Guitar Center. The sales dude went through a huge box of bars but none fit the Mustang. It turned into a special order adventure but I finally got my bar and didn't lose the screw that locks it in while I was waiting. :)

A good many reside in my desk drawer. The oddity of this is that I currently own just one strat, yet have 7 trem bars. :?:

Let me quote the great tele player Brad Paisley "whammy bars are for sissies" hahaha

Hmmmm: David Gilmour and Jeff beck, use or used (Hendrix) the wahmmy bar heavily, so I guess Brad Paisley was out of his mind when he said such a thing.

Me, I don't really see me using it any. Currently it's sitting in my tool box. It'll likely get lost at some point.

I have bought quite a few used Fender Strats over the last 25 years, and I have a question. Why is it that the original tremelo bar for the guitar is always missing?? How come these used Strats are without it?? Shouldn't it be in the case, with the guitar?? But NO!! They are always missing, MIA, gone, lost, minus bar, without whammy thing!!!
Is there a big huge pile of Fender whammy bars somewhere that missing bars go?? Is the photo of said bar on the side of any milk carton? does the missing bar have it's photo hung up in the post office? Is there some kinda reward system for reuniting missing bars with their rightful owners??
I think about this stuff...............

they all go to germany with your hunger

I think I'm like many guitarists out there. Since I don't have locking tuners, I hate using the tremolo arm. It sits in the case usused. I'd rather have a hardtail or at least block the tremolo cavity because of this. My first guitar had one, but it was long gone years ago. The guitar itself was recently gutted out and sold for scrap. No trace of the tremolo arm could be found....
