So I have a Stratocaster and I'm looking to replace the pickups in it to try and emulate Neal Schon's sound and tone. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

+1 - "Sell the Stratocaster and buy yourself a nice Les Paul."

Yeah, what he said. I don't think I've ever seen Neal Schon play anything other than a Les Paul. Oh, and you'll need reverb, delay, and overdrive.

Don't forget that in the late 80's/ealy 90's he had his own guitar line. I think they were made by Jackson for him,but had his name on the headstock. They we just modded soloist bodies if i recall right.-yeah i'm old lol

Well, here's a Fender Custon shop Neil Schon Strat. Said he played it on tour in 2005-2007.

Pickups are interesting. I guess they're flipped around and the bridge pickups are slanted the other way.

That custom shop is pretty cool. I like the bridge pickup with the 2 side b side coils.

Ok so here is that guitar i was talking about. It was made with Grover Jackson. There is a bunch of variations on this model. I saw another that was just a soloist with an upside down body(lefty turned right)

It makes no difference what you play, you won't get Neil Schon's tone at all. It's not just the equipment it's technique, fingers, magic, mojo etc. Ever notice, SRV still sounded like SRV whether he used a Strat, a Strat with lipstick pups, a Dano double neck no matter what amp he used too? Save your money and great disappointment and chase your own tone. It's a lot more fun anyway. :D

+1 63 is right on in his advice. I love my tone because it is what I came up with and it defines who I am as a player.

Exactly. It's all yours and was crafted by you and all then fun experimentation that goes along with it.
Having your own signature tone is a beautiful thing. Nothing worse or more boring than trying to be a clone.

I'm not even going to waste my time getting into this one. The OP will get five hundred different answers on what equipment Shone uses and none of them will do nothing but waste the OP's time and money.
