Not that I'm in the market but just a heads up that MF and GC have just lowered online prices on American Standards by $200. It doesn't appear to be a "sale" as the MF announcement just says "price drop" and GC has no announcement to speak of - just the quietly lowered price.

Is this typical for a new year? I suppose it's an indication of new models on the horizon.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Either what you've said and/or they want to move some NOS. Regardless of whatever their reasoning, guaranteed it is totally self-serving.

I think there just making room for new 2010 stock coming in……Musicians friend buys a large bulk of instruments and equip. from companies, and I assume they get a price reduction for doing so. I don’t know this for sure but they will haggle on prices.. My last two guitars that were bought from them I had my wife call and order over the phone. She was able to haggle the price down 300 on one and$500 on the other by agreeing to purchase the musicians friend warranty on the guitars for 160 bucks and some sweet talking I’m sure.. Now I’m sure they were not going to put themselves into a position to lose a profit on a piece of gear or a guitar; which is why I speculate they get them below retail or maybe in some cases way below retail from buying in bulk… but like Martian said,,,,,,it is most likely self serving
