Scored this '05-'06 MIM Stratocaster today. It says "deluxe series" on the headstock. It has a 2 point fulcrum trem, and noiseless pickups. Can anyone tell me what color this is, or other info. I have never seen it before. It looks as much light blue as it does a light mint green in person. Thanks JC.

no info was available, it was purchased used from a non-fender music store. The pic you showed is one i have come across alot looking into this guitar.Even if this is a "bastard" guitar, i'm ok with that. I like the neck, and the pickups sound great. I was just at a loss on info, and that color threw me off.

Hi Casey, I'd say that it is a toss up between Daphne blue or Sonic blue.

http://www.fender.com/support/colorchar ... e&color=53

Daphne would appear to me to have a slight touch of grey in it but hey, it is just my eyes. Good luck collecting infos. :)

You know Blertles, you were right on the mods. I started noticing stuff when i looked at that pic you posted. My strat has 6 holes under the bridge, like it used to be the vintage trem. Plus this pickguard is an 8 hole like my '57 reissue, not the 11 hole as in the pic you sent. I am taking this guitar apart today to do some further investigating. I am wondering if they just switched out the trem and pickguard myself. I would be glad to go back to a tortoise shell brown pickguard, if thats what it had.

So this strat did end up having 11 holes for the pickguard, and 6 holes for a vintage style trem. The pickguard is new and the pickups are "Kinman noiseless" the 2 point trem has no markings, so i don't know about it. I looked the Kinmans up online, and they seem to be very well received with players.

Hi Casey: what got the geek in me interested here was trying to ID that
bridge. I'm looking at the combination of vintage style saddles, holes
rather than slots for the trem posts, and that type of metal tip to the arm.

That is a strangely difficult combination to match. After some hunting I
believe it is Gotoh's OGE 1088T model, like this:

http://www.allparts.com/Gotoh-Fulcrum-T ... 53-010.htm

Obviously, that has never been stock on a Fender so it is confirmed as a
user mod.

Come to that, I don't think this is a modded Deluxe Players Strat at all. I
think it is a partsocaster from the ground up, which happens to include a
neck from a Deluxe Players.

I stand to be corrected, but I don't recall the Deluxe Players ever coming
in Sonic Blue. It certainly doesn't at present, or for a few years:

http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... 0133002367

So I suspect that is a body from somewhere else. And, as you've noticed,
the pickguard is not original.

Also, yours is missing the little button between the two tone knobs which
brings in the bridge pickup when middle and/or neck pickups are selected
for all seven possible combinations on the Deluxe Players.

There's nothing wrong with any of that. Most of us have put together
projects like this guitar before - just be aware that this probably never
started out as a stock Fender. It is an assemblage.

Anyway. Those Kinmans are well liked. If the guitar sounds and plays how
you like that's all that counts, right?

Cheers - C

(PS: I suppose there doesn't absolutely have to be an apostrophe in
Deluxe Players. But it kinda feels like there should be. Deluxe Players'
Strat. Deluxe Player's Strat. One of those, no...? It's a deluxe guitar for
players, rather than a guitar for deluxe players, surely... )

Hmm, I guess it's up to the OP, If they disclosed that this was a guitar from parts, then thats ok.

If not, and they sold it stating as a genuine fender, then in my own opinion, I would be taking it back.

From what he describes, there seems to be no evidence to suggest that they did. I certainly hope he didnt pay a premium. lets see when he comes back.

Thank you Ceri for the info. Your wealth of knowledge is always appreciated. I am in total agreement on that trem ID you made. Holy NCIS you're good lol. I was also thinking about the body not being original, since i could never find that color when looking at deluxe series strats. When i took off the pickguard, there was a barcode and numbers M00205806 on the body itself, in the area under the pots. Although it now has been determined this is a "partscaster", i still really like it. I only gave $300 US, which i feel is decent. The 3 pickup set of Kinmans were $250 online by themselves. So, i don't feel i was "taken" by any means.

'Zactly - that's the way to look at it.

And like Blertles says, so long as you weren't sold anything under false pretences then there's nothing wrong. Good at the price.

Anyway. I think it's one of the nicest colors. Enjoy that Strat!

:D - C

I definately will be getting rid of the pearl pickguard. Not a big fan of gold hardware, but it's what i have for now. Next question, tortoise shell pickguard? mint green? plain white? hmmm...

Mint green I think would look good, though the fact you have gold hardware begs a toroise shell or pearl...

The pearl plate looks to me two ply, unless you can verify that.

Fender ones are Pearl, white, black, white. The plate on my deluxe has a slicght aged look to it and thats what I like in a guard :)
