Hi Guys,

When turning the screw on top of a machine head/tuner how tight should it be ...i read somewhere that they should be finger tight..that correct?

and if all are set to that then they would be equalized right?

yeah, don't think of it as tight but more as 'not loose'. You don't want to overtighten them, or strip them, you just want them to be firm and have no free play. Finger tight sounds about right. You don't need to worry about having them all equal, just getting them all 'not loose' and feeling ok to turn.

Never follow the mechanic's point of view. "Tighten until its a half turn before it breaks...."

Isn't that until it's a half turn after it breaks... then blame the bolts for being imports, made out of inferior alloy...
