FYI: A DiMarzio Super Distortion (DP100) with coil splitting capabilities is a DiMarzio Dual Sound (DP101). A lot of people don't know this.

The X2N is indeed a powerful pickup however, it is more amp dependent. Meaning, you'll have to do a lot more fiddling with your amp's controls to coax the specific set of tonality you require out of it. The Super Distortion (or Dual Sound) is designed specifically for the purposes you've described through pretty much, any amp. Note that the highs on the SD or DS (again, same thing) are far superior to that of the X2N.

Note: If you do choose the SD or the DS, get an "F Spaced" one for best results; the X2N has rail type polepieces so it doesn't matter.
