What do you think is wrong or tampered with on it? Do you have any pics?

I'm definitly not knowledgeable on pickup i.d.'s. You might want to post this question in the pickups/accessories section with a pic if you can.

Can't say that I'm an expert and have any real knowledge but every American Strat that I've had or friends have had me work on that had their original pickups had pickup identification written in white marker on them. In fact I recently purchased a new 08 HSS Strat SB and opened it up when I was removing the plastic from the pickguard and it did have the white identification written on each Tex-Mex pickup.

I recently seen an HSS Sienna SB on ebay, (08) and quizzed the seller regarding the alterations he/she may have done and he/she quit communications with me so I didn't bid or BIN... I can only suspect that alterations were done and he/she didn't care to disclose this info. Gotta be careful when buying ebay used guitars these days as so many people have changed out things. I have seen and heard of many people buying guitars with twisted off tress rod nuts that it's not funny!

Hopefully for you Fender may not be marking all there pickups and you are genuine... but it doesn't seem to be the case as far as my experience.

how do know it is a tex mex pickup? You said "it did have the white identification written on each Tex-Mex pickup. " did it say tex-mex on the pickup or what did it say?

You would have to take your pick guard off and it would be on the pickups but that's a big job, I wouldn't expect you to do that. but if you are interested I would like to know what is on your pickups. My two singles have white numbers written on them and fender is engraved on the humbucker. Also there are two wires shrink wrapped together; I think one goes to the volume and other to pickup .
