Hi guys, I'm new here. Yesterday I bought a new American Standard Stratocaster. But something worries me. When the last tone is set at 10, it locks up. It can move normally, but in one place is some resistance. I never seen this before in strats. This defect, or a special lock for the tone? How is in your stratocaster?

The detent is at 10 on the middle knob (Tone 2)... right? Easy, mine has it too. There's a manual page that explains it, but simply put, you have DELTA-TONE which is a "high output bridge pickup and special no-load tone control for the middle and bridge pickups".

See the paragraph describing it in the manual here -->CLICK THIS and scroll down to page 3 once it opens. It's an Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) file so you'll need the reader if you don't have it already.

Your guitar is far from broken.

thanks, you saved my guitar;) Besides, strange idea. Fender should make delta-tone for the volume knob, because when I play I always turn it down.

I have an 07 american standard. I like its delta tone set-up. I thought something was wrong with my tone knob also, till I read the manual. It's a great guitar.

If a knob is making contact with the pick guard. The easiest way is to remove it and pad the knob with a tiny piece of paper so it sits a little higher. That can cause it to be harder to turn.

If you turn the knob to its highest point and use a couple of 1mm picks you can wedge it off easy without damaging anything (if your careful).
