Maple on Teles.
Rosewood on Strats.
Ebony on Acoustics.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Rosewood is easier to take care of and does not look as worn after a few years of playing. Maple sounds a little brighter when playing while rosewood sounds a little warmer. Overall 85% of all the guitars I have ever owned have been with a dark neck (either rosewood or some other dark wood). I just like the looks of it and how easy they are to maintain. However, the next guitar I buy will have a maple neck (more than likely) as that is one of my criteria. I am looking for a nice Telecaster for my next guitar.
