Hello again.
I have a 93 MIM strat SSS that I want to convert to HSS. Anybody got a beat on how to do this?
I know I need to to get a new pickguard and humbucker but apart from this I don't really know what I need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, what type of humbucker would people recommend?
(By the way, I searched the forums and couldn't find any information on this which is surprising, so I may have missed something).
Thanks!

The easiest way to go is to buy a prewired (or "loaded") pickguard with the pickups and all the electronics already installed. You can get some inexpensive ones at Guitar Fetish or find some higher-end ones on eBay. I hope this helps! 8)

You will need a 500K tone pot for the bridge. Here is a link on how to wire it per Fender specs.

Another link with more wiring options.

Better open her up before proceeding to buy pickguards, pickups, pots etc.

Make sure the body is routed for the HSS configuration! Got to have the larger routing in the bridge pickup are to fit the Humbucker!

bcam23,

I just did this a few months ago. I am all for making a guitar your own. Here is my thread from back then. Pay particular attention to the words from Forum User Martin. He had a lot of good information for me and my mod turned out awesome.

Hope this helps you out as much as it did me.

I thank you and I apologize for missing your final question about the resistors. Yes, they were to be wired in series (end to end).

You need a wiring diagram. You'll have to split the humbucker coils to wire position 2 correctly. There are several diagrams in the support section of this site.

A stacked humbucker (like in the Corgan strat) may save you some trouble.

The BC Strat does not used stacked humbuckers. Its pickups are all side-by-side humbuckers.
