I usually lurk round here, but a Strat is my guitar of choice (my part time job is as a Buddy Holly tribute artist).

At some point, I'll post a family photo of my Strats, but right now I wanted to share a quick pic of the latest addition. I had received about $100.00 in money for Christmas from folks who didn't know what to get me, so my wife, daughter and I went shopping yesterday with the money we all got.

I decided to go to Guitar Center, and I got this on sale for $79.00. It felt OK, plays really nice, and the price was stupid cheap.

It's really nice and sounds great! In fact, I had it out and was playing along while I was watching an Austin City Limits with a tribute to Jimmy Reed, and it sounds good playing Blues!

(BTW, sorry for the less than great pic - it was taken in a hurry on my cell phone):

Hi raveoned! I'm glad you like the guitar, but you do know that's a Starcaster and not a Stratocaster, right? That's why it was so cheap.

Oh, yeah, I know it's a Starcaster. I wasn't expecting on buying anything there, but this one would make a more than good knockaround guitar when I don't want to take my Strats somewhere that they could be damaged, stolen, etc.

Sorry if I should have posted this in another forum here, my apologies.

As a follow up, I didn't notice the Starcaster forum on here, so I'm sorry for posting this here on the Strat forum.

Just as an FYI to folks, I'm not a newbie to guitars, been playing for 22 years, and have all sorts of guitars, mostly Fenders and Gretsches.

Also, I play part time as Buddy Holly (as I mentioned above). This is probably my first real post here, so be kind to me until I get used to everything and everyone here.

Welcome to the Forums! Stick around! This is really a great bunch of folks.

I'm visiting the Buddy Holly Center in Lubbock, Texas on the 8th of January. My girlfriend was raised in Lubbock, so she wants to take me to show me where she grew up, went to school, etc. I told her that was cool, but I'm not going to Lubbock w/out being able to see the Buddy Holly Center. She ageed, so we'll both have a blast!

That's neat you do the Buddy Holly gig - he's one of my top rock and roll guys! Do you have a web site or any Youtube stuff?

Again - welcome to the gang! We're a motley bunch, but we're a lot of fun!

No harm done, and I'm sorry if I came across as a jerk. I just didn't want you to be deceived. The Starcaster can indeed be a satisfying little knockaround guitar, and I hope you get enjoyment from it.

I watched the video of your Buddy Holly tribute band as well--very cool! 8)
