Hi, I'm new here so... Hello! :D Please to meet you lol
Now the question:

Do you know what was the name of the Strat that Kurt Cobain used ? The Vandalism one (all-black)...
I really wanted to know and I can't find it anywhere...

Please reply asap because I'm going on holiday tomorrow and I won't have access to the Internet there. Oh and sorry for my english...

Thanks for the help guys

I havnt been on the boards for awhile but it just so happens that i am building one of his strats. I've exchanged emails with a few people on the subject and i am re-creating his all white strat.

First off you have to know that Kurt loved japanese strats over american.
Second, he also played alot of mims, so you probably almost never seen him use american as he preferred either japanese or mims so he could easily destroy them.

The black guitar you want to recreate is nearly impossible. Why? Because that vandalism sticker is extremely rare and if you want one you will have to pay hundreds of dollars on ebay and that is a big IF you can even find one!

i am recreating his all white strat which is alot easier since even the designer of kurtsequipment doesnt know the exact pickups on your all black strat, kurts tech guy ernie does however.

My all white strat had 3 single coil Seymour Duncan Hot Rails.

the poster after you said kurt did not like strats, ive never once read this to be the case nor have i EVER seen him say this in person.

His favorites that i know were the mustang to tour and jaguar to record. Tho he used dozens of guitars and his favorite guitar of all was probably an acoustic harmony he paid 30 bucks for at a pawn shop.

The mexi strats he used to break after playing almost all had seymour duncan hot rail single coils in them and he used dean markley 10-52s but then later switched to GHS Boomers for the In Utero tour.

As i stated earlier, the great thing about kurt was he would play mims on stage so you can recreate his guitar in a mim and it would be accurate tho most of those were smashed hehe.

Kurt was my all time favorite guitarist so my mods will be a labor of love, i doubt i would ever sell the guitar but i will post before and after pics when im finished.

It started as a Fernendes copy. The neck was replaced with a Fender.

one more thing, if you are on a budget but really want the nirvana sound you may want to try a Squier Jagmaster.

Believe it or not the Jagmaster is the closest unmodified guitar that sounds like Kurt's jags.

If you buy a real mustang or jaguar you will spend some extra cash to mod it to get the exact specs his techie ernie bailey used but with a Jagmaster it's probably the closest straight out of the box guitar you can find.

And...it's only 250 bucks. check this video out as proof then go look at other videos of people playing the real jaguars or mustangs and none sound as close to kurts as an unmodified Jagmaster.

I also recall the Jag-Stang. My son-in-law has one. He loves it, and it was hard to find. They only made a certain number of them, I believe.
