Hi! I own a 1993 Strat Plus. It´s a great guitar and I bought it used some time ago. The last owner changed the original pickups (Fender Lace Sensor) to Texas Special Pickups. I own onother Classic Series Strat a 70´s Stratocaster and to say the truth I prefer the soft sound of the 70´s strat. The 70´s strat sounds just like Derek and the Dominos strat. That is the sound that I always look for in strat.
The texas special are very good quality pickups but too much agressive with a lot of bass and midrange. I thinking about changing the Texas Special for a smouther sounding pickup with a more vintage feel. I want my strat plus to sound like a real vintage strat. Could anybody give some opitions for a quality pickup change that makes my strat sound like a vintage one?

I would suggest you put those Gold Lace sensors in , and restore a quality vintage sound to your instrument. These pickups are noiseless. They were Fender's noiseless pickups in the 80' and nineties, before they issued the SCN noiseless versions. I think they are better than Fender SCN's. Fender still sells these PU's, or you could go to the Lace website and choose.

Thanks a lot! In 1991 I bought a Strat Plus but some time later I made the mistake to sell it. To say the truth I liked the fender lace a lot. Maybe I will try a set of gold ones in my 93 strat plus, the same that came with my first strat plus. Thanks for the help.

It hurts my heart everytime I see a Strat Plus compromised in such a way :(

If I had bought it knew I will never change those pickups (Gold Fender Lace Sensor) I remember that with my first Strat Plus I made some test with other pickups and came back to the Original Fender Lace. I don´t Know but I thing the swiming pool body cut may fit better with the lace sensor pickups. I will look for a set here in Rio de Janeiro maybe it will be a little hard do find but I will change it for sure.

I don´t know what the last owner of this axe got im mind when he changed the pickups (maybe a Steve Ray fan). To say the truth I think he did not played this guitar. I bought it last year when it already got 15 years old but even the original frets are shining without any sign of use!!! Realy mint condiction, and I payed a good sum for that!! With the correct pickup set it will be an axe to keep for the rest of my life. I will not make the mistake to sell onother strat plus! By the way if I want high gain I will use my LP.
