Who here favors the tradition single coil in their bridge or a humbucker?

I prefer the single coil pickup all the way around. I think it provides better top end clarity. I enjoy the music of many musicians who play humbucker-in-bridge-position, but the sound I like coming out of my amp is made by a single coil pickup.

Right now I'm having tons of fun with my new Highway 1 hss. One of the most important feature I wanted when I bought this new guitar was the humbucking bridge pup. I do have to admit though that this is a "luxury" item. I would not have bought this if I didn't have my American Deluxe in the traditional SSS first. So to be honest I'd really have to say both :D

Single coil for me. I've had guitars (Fenders and other brands) with a humbucker in the bridge, and they're great - but it just doesn't sound like "me" without a SSS pickup combination.

I have both SSS and HSS versions. I prefer the HSS.

My Strat Ultra has a 'dually' humbucker with a 3-way switch and red Lace Sensors, so I can have two different single coils 'on' or the middle position for both coils. so I have the best of three worlds.

Something I've been wondering. Did anyone ever put together a HHH Strat?

You left out the obvious answer: At least one of each!

Single coil in the bridge wired to the second tone control.

Depends on the single coil, but I tend to keep to singles.

I like both. I have a Stratocaster SSS and a Statocaster HSS. To answer the question of has anyone done a HHH...yes. The Billy Corgan is considered a HHH. Also I have seen a few out there with the more traditional humbuckers as well. They are not played by anyone "famous" but it has been done. I have also seen:

SSH
SHS
HSH
HH no middle
SS no middle
S Bridge only
H Bridge only

Configurations. It just depends on the person doing the modification.

If I want "THE" Strat sound than it's single coils (albeit hum canceling versions) all the way.
