Hi to everyone here. I just signed up and WoW! i love this place already.

Here is my question:
I have a Richie Sambora(Mex) Strat with the Floyd Rose II trem. I was wondering if it was possible to swap it with a Fender 2 Post(or Point?) trem?? If so would i need to do alot of work on it or will it just pop in?

I'm afraid that the routing dimensions are different. for an OEM Fender tremolo to fit, you'd have to do some filling then match the finish to make it look nice. Don't like the Floyd Rose? I was thinking of getting one myself. anyway, conversion would be a lot of trouble. better to sell it and use that money towards what you want than to muck it up.

Thanks mate. I guess ill just have to put up with it then hey... I was hoping the OEM 2 point would just slide in. Oh well i guess you cant always get what you want. My bad for buying this version in the first place. Ive looked all over the internet and couldnt find anything on this subject, so i hope this will help others.

Could you be so kind as to tell me why you want to swap out the Floyd Rose? I've got an American Deluxe and a Highway 1. I was thinking about ordering for a Candy Apple Red HSS w/Floyd Rose Locking Tremolo. Unfortunately, there aren't any floor models to try in any of the shops even in LA. So please tell me what you were hoping to achieve or fix by swapping the bridge? You might be saving me from some kind of mistake. Thanks :D

Ive never been into the Floyd Rose thing realy. To tell you the truth, i got this guitar from a friend who was moving to Ausralia. He just want to get rid of it so i offered to buy it. Got a good deal realy. But ive wanted a classic fender for ages but cant realy get around to saving up for it so i thought id do the next best thing. DIY! I dont realy know if i would have had the heart to go through with it had it been an easy process. I play Blues so i thing id realy be better off getting a different model but i thought a couple of changes to my Pride and Joy would have been ok for now.

And you know how you can never let go of your first...

Note: I thought id save space by updating this topic rather than starting a new one.

Ok, now i know i cant change the trem i thought of blocking it from moveing back or forward. The reason for this would be so i can use thicker strings. i love the tone and feel of 0.13 strings but the trem bends as i tune them. I've tried tuning to E flat but trem bends and the strings move up so much that its non-playable. Any ideas on this would be great.
Thanks in advance, Metin.
