As a fan of the Byrds and Tom Petty, I'd like to be able to get that Rickenbacker jangly sound... well, without investing in a Rickenbacker. Is there a way to get that kinda sound with a Strat, maybe by using an effects pedal or a particular amp setting (Super Champ XD maybe)?

I did try out a PRS SE semi-hollow body that gets fairly close to that sound without having to spend mucho $$ (price on the PRS is 500-600).. I guess another alternative is the 12-string CIJ Strat for a little more $ than the PRS...

I'm hoping, though, that there's a way to get an approximation of that jangly sound with my CP 50's...

A delay with slap back settings will get you close with your strat. He also used a chorus pedal.

I would have to agree. My chorus pedal gives me what I would call a Jangly sound.

Okay, thanks. Amp settings and chorus effect should do it, at least approximately.. I'll give it a try.

If memory serves me right, the sound that is Rickenbacker guitars is the fact that it is a 12 string guitar. That and their pickups will get you that sound. Have you played the Fender 12 String Strat at a music store? Maybe that is the solution without buying a Rickenbacker guitar. Give you that "Jangly" sound you are looking for. I also know that the Byrds also used a slap delay along with their guitars.

What you need is the Janglebox compressor - http://www.janglebox.com/
