Neck found at Pawn Shop

I want to thank everyone here for talking me through this process. I built it with my father who is quite the handy man. I played it a bit today after we finished it but not much... It is a christmas present along with a new Marshall Amp (AVT 100) which will be a gigantic upgrade from my Peavy Blazer POS.

So, thank you to everyone here who helped me get this guitar finished... I love it love it love it love it!!!!!!!

Well, I took it to a tech who said it was a Mighty Mite(fender licensed) and is actually much better quality than the stock MIM. Not only that, but it had the large headstock to go with the 69 pickups. I also prefer the contrast of the rosewood. And after playing it I like it just as well as the stock neck. Cant go wrong with that, can you?

Looks nice man. You have to like it, nobody else. Image

Its a Mighty Mite neck with Fender decals?

Are you sure its not a Highway One neck?

Regardless, I like it. I built a similar guitar and enjoy it.

How do those CS '69s sound through that Marshall 100? Have you played it loud yet?

Thanks buddy!

It says "Mighty Mite/Fender Licensed" on the heel. It is a nice neck... very nice fret work and finishing. Im guessing someone put a decal on it.... very professionally though. Ill take better pictures on Friday when I get it and post them.... I cannot wait... it is killing me!!! I have an Epiphone, but its not the same. :(

I havent played loud yet... just moderately. Ill say the CS69s in my peavy blazer sound different through the marshall. They sound much more vintage through the Marshall... in a very good way. But, it is hard to tell, because the last play was with fender saddles and fender nut, which are both now changed. I only played for about 20 minutes, since it is a christmas thing, so not enough time to get a good gauge.

I don't like it. I would prefer the Lace Sensors and the maple neck, as it originally had. The finished version is just another bastard guitar.

I'm partial to OEM. The guitar was beautiful in it's original form. I really like Lace Sensors too. So he just made a nice guitar mediocre IMHO and uglier.

I have a 1970 Fender Stratocaster that the original owner changed the tuners and bridge. Now its less valuable on the vintage market. I hate the original pickups on it so I bought a Strat Ultra w/ Laces and it answered all my problems I was having with the 1970 version. This ultra was similar to the Jeff Beck model, and has a 'Dually' HB pickup, which to my ears solved the weakest positioned bridge PU on my 1970.

I think the worst part is my 1970 looks like his new "partsocaster":Image

Dead ringer...I'm laughing out loud

Me too.

To my eyes, a mint green pickguard just doesn't look right with the large headstock and 1969-type decal.

Wow...I guess it's a really good thing that you don't have to play his guitar huh? He built it up the way that he likes it and he is happy with the results...which is really the -only- thing that counts. The OP (and his father) apparently put a lot of effort in to this particular instrument and is quite proud of it...and rightfully so...tis a shame you felt the need to try and sh^t on that.

Incidentally as an MIM owner myself, sometimes a "bastard guitar", as you so eloquently put it, ends up being FAR better than what came off the factory line...at least to the owner of said instrument. In the case of my '96 MIM for example, because of what I've done to it over the years, it's a rather unique instrument...I've personalized it to my own tastes and it reflects my own style. Instead of being just another "one among thousands just like it", it's very distinctly -my- Strat. You like playing a guitar that is just like everyone elses with absolutely nothing special or distinctive about it, that's your choice (and consequently your loss) but not all of us are so positively bland or boring. One has to wonder if your music lacks the same sense of originality as your taste in instruments? Personally I'm "one of a kind"...a unique individual and my music and my instruments absolutely reflect that and I'm damn proud of it!

"Laugh out loud" all you want because I'm sure a few of us are also laughing at you .

Jim

(To the OP: I don't really care for the mint green myself but otherwise, nice job! I'm sure she plays and sounds great!)
